Allosteric activation
- Via activation, the binding of the effector changes the active site slightly, which allows the enzyme to better bind its substrate.
Allosteric inhibition
- Via inhibition, binding of the effector changes the active site slightly, which prevents the enzyme from binding to its substrate.
Allosteric activation and inhibition can also work the opposite way
- Removal of the effector molecule can activate or deactivate the enzyme.
