Hyponatremia
- Abnormally low blood sodium levels (less than 135 mEq/L).
Beware of pseudohyponatremia: hyponatremia without hyop-osmolality:
- Conditions with hyponatremia + high plasma osmolality:
hyperglycemia, mannitol or glycerol admin.
- Conditions with hyponatremia + normal plasma osmolality:
hyperproteinemia, hyperlipidemia, prostate surgery (with use of glycine or sorbitol fluids).
