Henoch-Schonlein Purpura causes inflammation and bleeding in the SMALL blood vessels in:
- Skin
- Purpura: reddish-purplish rash, typically on the lower extremities (buttocks, legs, and feet).
- Joints
- Manifests w/pain and swelling at the joints
- Intestine
- Manifests w/abdominal pain and nausea
- Kidneys
- Proteinuria or Hematuria (protein or blood in the urine)
Demographic
- Most common in pediatrics (children 2 ~ 6 years old).
Morbidity
- Mostly related to kidney damage.
