Henoch-Schonlein Purpura

Henoch-Schonlein Purpura causes inflammation and bleeding in the SMALL blood vessels in:
  • Skin
    • Purpura: reddish-purplish rash, typically on the lower extremities (buttocks, legs, and feet).
  • Joints
    • Manifests w/pain and swelling at the joints
  • Intestine
    • Manifests w/abdominal pain and nausea
  • Kidneys
    • Proteinuria or Hematuria (protein or blood in the urine)
Demographic
  • Most common in pediatrics (children 2 ~ 6 years old).
Morbidity
  • Mostly related to kidney damage.
