Frontal Release Signs
- Suck reflex
- Sucking movements when stimulated.
- Snout reflex
- Lip puckering/protrusion (with percussion).
- Watch the muscles at the base of the nose contract.
- Palmomental reflex
- Thenar hand stimulus causes ipsilateral orbicularis oris and mentalis muscle contraction.
Clinical Implications: Diffuse Cerebral Damage
- Dementias or other causes of Frontal Lobe Degeneration
- Metabolic/Anoxic Encephalopathies
- Head trauma/Hydrocephalus
