Adrenocortical tumors
- Rare (~500 people/yr in US)
- There are two main types of adrenocortical cancer:
- Functioning tumors (most common), make hormones.
- Non-functioning tumors do not produce hormones.
Malignant pheochromocytomas (begin in adrenal medulla)
- Rare (~800 people/yr in US)
Malignant paragangliomas (external to adrenal medulla).
