Cavernoma (aka cerebral cavernous malformation)
* Cavernomas are multilobulated, endothelium?lined caverns without mature vessel walls, so naturally they hemorrhage easily as they grow and evolve.
They are important causes of seizure.
In ~ 25% of cases, cavernomas present with seizure and have an exceedingly high risk of seizure recurrence (~95%).
Approximately 50% are found incidentally on MRI.
