Spinal Cord Compression

Key causes of spinal cord compression include:
  • Mechanical - eg, disc herniation with cord compression.
  • Neoplastic invastion - eg, lymphomatous invasion of the spinal canal
  • Epidural abscess - in the spinal canal, the epidural space forms a true space; whereas, in the cranial vault, a space only forms after pathology or from iatrogenic causes.
