- * The CN 3 nucleus lies within the posterior midbrain (at the level of the superior colliculus).
- It produces pupillary constriction and 4 of the 6 cardinal eye movements of gaze: adduction (medial rectus), elevation when the eye is abducted (superior rectus), depression when the eye is abducted (inferior rectus), elevation when the eye is adducted (inferior oblique).
