Carbon Monoxide Poisoning

Carbon monoxide poisoning is the most widely known cause of bilateral globus pallidus necrosis.
Other important causes include toxic drug exposure, such as from:
  • MDMA (methylenedioxymethamphetamine)
  • Cocaine
  • Opiates
  • Cyanide
