– Bind the 30S subunit Causes misreading of bacterial mRNA and blocking translocation

– Enzymatic inactivation of the antibiotics
  • Adverse effects
– Nephrotoxicity – Neuromuscular blockade – Ototoxicity – Contraindicated in pregnancy (teratogens)
